Cabinet Painting Tips

Painting your cabinets can make a huge difference in the feel and look of your kitchen and home, but it can also be a lot of work. It’s a long process that has to be done with care. This is something I would be happy to do for you, but also want to equip you with tips in case you’d like to try it yourself. So check out these cabinet painting tips!

  1. Remove all of the hardware and label the doors.

Make a map of which door was where and label them in a spot that won’t get painted over or removed

  2. Get the grease off

Things in the kitchen get greasy. There’s no avoiding that. Just be sure to remove all of the grease or the paint won’t stick to the cabinets!

  3. Consider filling open grain

Depending on the type of wood you have, you might need to fill the open grain. After adding paint, the pores could become very noticeable. It all depends on the look you are going for in the end!

  4. Lightly sand in between coats

To create a smooth finish, lightly sand between coast of primer or paint then vacuum up the dust.

  5. Use quality products

Be sure you purchased a quality paint that is meant for cabinets as well as quality brushes. They truly do make a difference in your final product!
